Why should I train my FLT operators?
Under the Health & Safety at Work Act, 1974, the employer has a responsibility towards his employees to ensure for their health & safety whilst at work. (Health & Safety Regulations Section 2.1: It shall be the duty of every employer to ensure so far as is reasonably practical the health, safety & welfare at work of his employees). Part of that responsibility covers the provision of: ...such information, instruction, training and supervision as is necessary to ensure the Health & Safety of the employees. (Section 2.2)
As well as being a legal requirement therefore, well trained operators can reduce down-time, stock and asset damage, as well as reducing the potential for injury to others caused by bad operating.
